Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 17 (3), 1972: 379-419

The paper presents descriptions of 22 morphological types of cephalopod arm hooks found mainly in three Middle and Upper Jurassic localities in Poland. The majority of them were included in 7 new genera: Acanthuncus, Arcuncus, Cornuncus, Deinuncus, Falcuncus, Longuncus and Urbanekuncus and 12 new species; the remaining 10 forms are described without specific names. Morphology of fossil cephalopod hooks, hooks of Recent calmars and jaws of fossil and Recent polychaetes are compared. It was found that the genera Paraglycerites Eisenack and Arites Kozur hitherto considered as scolecodonts appear to be cephalopod hooks. The stratigraphical value of the material is briefly discussed.
