Cladocera as ecologic indicator in late Quaternary lacustrine sediments in Northern Poland
Cladocera from five late Quaternary profiles of 4 lake basins have been investigated. A detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis of cladoceran species allow to reconstruct the evolution of fassil lakes in the vicinity of Worytów (the Mazurian Lakeland) and Niechorze (Western Pomerania). Basing on species composition and quantity of fossil remains in the sediments, some phases of Cladocera development and biologic al development of the lakes have been
distinguished. Stages of intensified eutrophication have been pointed out which might be connected with human colonisation. Climatic fluctuations have been documented. Phases or Cladocera development correspond partly to the climate phases in the late glacial and Holocene.
